Panic. Sheer panic when I learned this stupid little tidbit factoid:
>If you spent 1 minute looking at every item in the Smithsonian Institute it would take around 260 years to see them all<
2-6-0. That’s more than I’ve got left. [brief panic over the concept of death and nothingness]. If I can’t even see everything that is housed in one institution in one city in one country…..there is no freakin’ way I’ll be able to see every place in the whole world. [MAJOR PANIC]. And holy crap there’s no way I’ll be able to:
- single-handedly transform transportation in the US and
- fully comprehend the basics of quantum mechanics (or you know, learn what quantum mechanics actually is) and
- master gourmet cooking techniques and
- pick up coding and
- build that genius app my son and I thought of last summer and
- learn how to DIY my own greenhouse and
- become a master mechanic (Oh, you say I need to replace the doohickey and it will cost me a gazillion dollars, Mr. Mechanicman? Ha! I happen to know there’s no such part!!!) and
- figure out what the heck my husband’s dissertation for his philosophy PhD was actually about AND
- gather the knowledge and skills I need to turn my kid into the most fantastic amazing teenager who ever walked the face of the earth.
What’s the freakin’ point if I can’t go everywhere and learn everything????????? [deep breathe] Ok what now? Seriously, what now????
